A long time since

Posted on: Thursday 5 November 2015

Warm hands, cutlery inuendos and dimpled cheeks,
it's been a long time since

Never ending goodbyes, excited hellos and watched clocks in between,
it's been a long time since

Signature dishes, favourite shows and routine cafes,
it's been a long time since

Walks through town, walks with dogs and walks at night,
it's been a long time since

Attractions on par, new hands to be held and warm faces i've liked,
there have been since

Feelings anew, hoping it leads and knowing it won't,
there has been since

How will i know, where are they now and when will it stop being a long time since

Two Cents: Tampon Tax.

Source, an anonymous friend on Facebook

I don't need to go into detail about this, but what a load of shit the tampon tax is. I saw this facebook status today and it made me laugh out loud and sums up the situation perfectly. There have been occasions where my lack of hair pruning has been embarrassing que sleeveless tops and summery days when the up keep is tedious and you can't be fucked until you are sitting in the sunshine with a group of people and you suddenly realise that your leg hair is obvious to everyone around.  But I think most girls can vouch for the fact that you spend the majority of your period constantly paranoid that you have "leaked" or dread the times when you to have to awkwardly ask every female at work etc if they have a spare tampon.

To say tampons and sanitary items are a luxury is an insult to women. We are happy to go hairy for a bit longer than probably necessary because lets face it how often are people getting close enough to see, that's when tights come in handy! But do you know what it's like to feel like your ovaries are attacking you to then find out that you don't have a spare tampon or sanitary product?! That's not what I call living the life of luxury!

Travel Part 1.

Photo by Me. Raglan, New Zealand.

I am currently in New Zealand at the moment, I have been here for two weeks. Before I had been living and working in Australia for the last 9 months. New Zealand is/was the goal. I had always had it in my head to come here, when my sister came back from travelling when she was 19 and said it was one of the most amazing places she had seen. I didn't know much about the place but being a visual person I knew I wanted to see the talked about landscapes for myself.

Having worked and saved for many months back in the UK, I still had to work and save in Australia so I could enjoy the freedom of travel in New Zealand. The thing about travelling is not only do you get to experience some of your highest highs, you learn a lot from your lows.

In this day and age of social media, there is a tendency to bullshit about how great our lives are, comparing our behind the scenes to people's showreels as the saying goes.  It's literally driving people crazy, we are being made to feel more aware of how we should look and how we should socialise or how much we should earn even if it's not something we aspire to. This is why I wanted to write this post to say some of the realistic sides of travel, because there's nothing worse then making the commitment to feel like you are doing it wrong in comparison to what you have seen on Facebook.

Hello.

I have created this blog to ramble, I used to write a lot as a kid and the urge still lurks within me. If this goes the way I see it in my head, I think people will find my posts interesting.

A few things to introduce myself
  • I am a very creative person, my main outlet is photography but also includes being a make up artist, the odd bit of playing about with film and lots of doodling.
  • My main thing is story telling, I just haven't quite worked out which is my favourite way yet
  • I love to find out how people's minds work, their thoughts and creative processes
  • I like to think I'm quite funny but so do most people and at least there's a minimum of one person laughing at my jokes
  • Call me Bea for now
